Lily Allen has taken a break from Twitter following a barrage of abuse from on-line trolls over the weekend.

The singer was attacked after revealing she has post-traumatic stress dysfunction (PTSD) after her son was stillborn at six months in 2010.

Allen's pal Dennis has since taken over her account and is obstructing trolls in an effort to cease the abuse.

The trolls claimed Allen was responsible for the demise of her son. "Perhaps for those who didn’t pump your physique full of medicine you wouldn’t have miscarried," learn one of many tweets aimed toward Allen, which has since been deleted.

Allen responded to the remarks with a frank description of the circumstances of her son's dying, revealing that she suffers from PTSD following the ordeal.

The trolling started after Allen replied to a fan who had requested her when her psychological well being points started.

Allen determined to take a break from Twitter on Saturday.

"My timeline is filled with probably the most disgusting, sexist, misogynistic, racist shit. Actually, new ranges. I am no masochist so I will be again x," wrote the singer earlier than signing off.
